A chipmunk is any of several species of
small ground SQUIRREL with characteristic
stripes along its side. Chipmunks live in
North America and to the East of Asia, in a
variety of habitats, usually wooded, and take
shelter in burrows. They have pouches in
their cheeks for storing their food. They
are good climbers but spend most of their
time on or near the ground.
